Condensation inside Xenon headlights?

HI all,
Just had my new Cooper a few days.
I have the Xenon headlamps with washer jets - I've noticed condensation forming on the inside of the lens (the bottom 1/4).
Seems to come and go depending on how wet the day is.
Lights work fine, but this is concerning me a little as electrical components and water ingress always end in tears at some point.
Anyone else having the same problem?
Should I be taking this straight back to the dealer for a warranty claim?

Cheers, Geoff.

i would get them to look at it, perhaps get them to note it just in case something goes wrong in the future...my spotlights have condensation in them after a hot wash, but thats a know effect.

They will condensate inside this time of year.
Especially if your driving in cold weather, the leamps throw off some heat so is normal for condensation to take place on cool down

DIY Condensation In Xenon Headlights

HI Guys, bought a Cooper S year old 4000 miles beautiful car, love it. Had it two days; second day today and i noticed over last couple of days that condensation has been in only one of the headlights!!!!
Ive been on several BMW Mini forums etc and nearly all of them are saying that if it is in only one headlight then it indicates a problem and they need to be changed.

Questions: 1. Will MINI warranty cover stuff like this?
2. Can anybody here say without doubt that this means there is a fault that needs addressing??

Thanks, Jon

DIY Thanks

Thanks Si,

Is this a recognisable diagnosable fault or some thing that should happen?
Surely if it was meant to happen both of them would have it in?

Jon

United-Kingdom xenon condensation

Hi Guys,

Can anybody give me a definitive answer to the question; if there is condensation inside only one of the xenon headlights on my '04 Cooper s, does it mean its a fault that needs to be rectified or should it happen?

Many Thanks,

Jon

Had the O/S whole headlight replaced because of intermittent xenon fault which have beein going for over two years. When I collected the car, the good N/S headlight was completely misted up - so much so that water droplets were running down to bottom half of the lens. Complained to the service people but told this is "normal after it has been to workshop". Never had this problem before. So booked car in but after a few days with the lights on for a couple of hours a day, it dried up and the problem has not repeated even after wash with hose and in this cold weather. Guess the dealer valet guy was a bit too zealous with steam jet and steam got into it.

Hi
I am new to this so forgive my blundering through. So our mini has just been taken in for an MOT, and they found thet there is an issue with the xeon lights and they will need replacing, if not the car will fail the MOT. We have a waranty and an MOT cover however, if the fault is due to the seal then this is not covered. Further, it is not possible to replace just the seal, the whole thing would need replacing costing the order of £730. I am happy to pay for the seal (i.e. the uncovered part) but I feel it a little unfair that I should have to pay for the lights system also particularly if this is covered under the MOT. I have found Sytner to be wholly unhelpful and difficult to deal with particularly because I can not find anyone that can actually give me an answer. I have spent about 4 hours today calling different people and nobody is willing to put me through to someone that can help. We were going to renew the warranty but given that there are so many loopholes and they won't pay for anything, I don't think I will be. Ridiculous.
