This is very confusing. If 5% tint only allows 5% light into the car, then MINI windows are not 5% standard, I was told that standard glass is 72%. By law the maximum tint on the side windows forward of the B-Pillars is 70% and not 30% (as you sliding scale shows 30% is dark). Therefore it is not possible to apply any further tint to the fronts without being the wrong side of the law. Adding two % of tint together ie 5% and 30% is not 25%. If you put 25% on top of 25% you would not get 50%, the first layer allows through it 25% available light, the second layer would then allow through 25% of the remaining light which would be the equivelent of fitting 7.5% which is very dark. I dont need to make my car go faster, I just need to learn to drive it faster.

Hi all, planning on getting my Cooper's windows tinted this week and was just wondering if anyone knew what percentage the "optional rear tints" are provided by MINI, because they look exactly how I want mine to? Also, is the back window a lighter shade than the rear sides? If anyone knows, that would be much appreciated!

i went for the 70% all round been stopped by plod already but that was for the tint on my rear lights the plod in question checked everything he could to no avail but didn't say anything about the front side window tint previously had 30% on the rear before and was too dark felt like driving a van as couldn't see blind spot very well so was removed and replaced with lighter version

Does anybody know if tints are available for 2005 MCSC. Most sites I see have tints available for 2007 convertibles onwards. What's the darkest tint I can go for and still stay legal? DIY or use the pros? Last edited by peter m2; Apr 9th, 2012 at 02:44 AM. Reason: Spelling

Consistent Tint, or Darker in Back? We just received our 2012 Baker Street Edition, in black. We are tinting the windows. The dealer recommended 50 percent on the driver and passenger windows, and 35 percent on the rest at the rear. I have heard some say that the tint looks best when it is the same all around (in our case, 50 percent would be the max). What does everyone think would look best: 50 percent and 35 percent for the rear of the vehicle, or 50 percent all around?? Your thoughts are appreciated!

We are in Canada and are allowed 50 percent on the front, and 35 behind that. Even though the tint would be lighter than allowed in the rear, I wonder if 50 percent all around would look better?
