Is It Too Cheeky to have Racing Stripes and Numbers on the door, if not at the track?

I know most folks have the stripes put on permanently. I went with magnetic stripes and just had some magnetic door numbers made--# 3 (for my 3 daughters and 3 grandsons.) It also matches my "3" on my new Whalen Billiard Ball shift knob, which I like better than my "old " Whalen. I guess if it floats my boat--it works.

I think it looks great. The Mini is quite unique in the way you style it. I've seen them with numbers on the side, and it makes you look twice and smile. I'd go for it (and don't forget some pics!)

Not sure if its true but i once heard it was illegal to display track numbers on your car on the public highway in the UK.

I'm sure it was/is.?? Lucky buggers in The States can do it. But I have seen it on a number of Minis. I have questioned a few of my friends who are serving police officers and they said they just weren't aware of any rule.

It is illegal to display racing numbers on the public road.

You would however be very unlucky to be stopped for having them, and at worst be told to remove/cover them.

Worth remembering that the Police really do have better things to be doing than stopping MINI drivers with numbers on their cars!

From the USA too, and there's debate over if it's illegal too.

I have number's on my car and have no problems with the police in Bournemouth. My understanding is if you have a race car that is road legal with race numbers on you have to have a line through them. This is a requirement from the racing organisations and not the police. As far as I'm aware the general public can have numbers on the cars.

numbers are fine. if you wanna be picky then if you are not on the track a black line through them is good - just like what cooper_sport said.
never had any problems - its not a dangerous thing to have on a car and so its not the top of police prioroties.
