Chipsaway- The Verdict

After finding a nasty six inch scratch on my BRG 2003 Mini Cooper S (near fuelcap) I decided it needed sorting. I did not want to have the panel sprayed as I was worried about colour match/cost so I called my local Chipsaway operator- Steve Fitch in Eastbourne, East Sussex. He prompty visited me and gave me a quote of £150. This seemed quite pricey but it was a 2.5 hour repair job, quite a big scratch in an awkward area. I took him up on the quote and he did the job yesterday.
WOW!!!! The scratch has TOTALLY vanished with no sign of it or any colour difference from any angle. It really is as good as new. I am very particular about my car and for me to be fully satisfied it has to be good! I would advise anyone with any chips/scratches to call chipsaway (national company) for a free quote. Steve tells me bonnets are sometimes harder to repair but most chips/scratches/alloys are a reasonable cost to repair. I suggested that Steve (or other chipsaway reps) attended a mini meet to offer free quotes/possible discounts for mini owners. Only an idea- we did the same sort of thing when I was in the Peugeot Club.
Hope this helps
Tom

minibbb Was it a deep scratch through the paint? How do they price up with-out seeing it or do they give you the quote when they come?

was quite a groove in the paint, with white flecs where it has gone deeper. He came round to see me for the quote. Apparently he has repaired a key damage which went the whole length of the car. I think unless it is extremely deep they can sort it. Bare in mind some repairers are going to be better than others though, but he says they get the same training

I used chipsaway just before Xmas to clear up some stone chips on the bonnet. £50 for the whole lot and it was excellent. He was even a fellow MCSC owner as well

Definitely recommend them
