DIY Headlamp Washer Blocked!!

Hi Everyone,

Have the nearside headlamp washer blocked and cannot see a way of unblocking it. Does anybody know how to stop the blasted things retracting after the cycle is complete? or does any body know how to take the washers off so I can give them a clean?

At the moment just getting a dribble out of them. Offside lamp works fine

Many Thanks

Sounds like you're the first to have this problem. I would take it to my local dealer to have looked at.

I suspect there is a way to push it out from under the bonnet. If you open your bonnet, you can see the motor and assembly right beside the headlights.

But because I have fidgety fingers that either get cut or I break something, I think I would get my local MINI mechanic to fix it. Hence if he screws it up, he can put a new one in at his cost. Be experience, if your car is under warranty still, your MINI mechanic will probably just put a whole new assembly in.

Unscrew the +ve battery terminal get someone to wash the lights and then pull of the lead from the battery before the motor has time to wind it back in!!
Clear the blockage and then put lead back on battery to wind it back into place!

Don't know if it'll be of any use at all but have a look here:

I don't think there is any motor. I think the sprayer is pushed out by the pressure
of the washer fluid from the pump. Also, I am pretty sure you can push the sprayers
out by hand from under the bonnet.

yeah, my salesmen just opened the hood and pushed them out when he was showing them to me, so nothing special required there
