Aero Kit and Lowering...

Just wondering, I'm getting Eibach ProStreet Coilovers for my Cooper in the summer, set on the 50mm lowering setting.

I'm also considering getting the Aero front and rear bumpers - I've heard the Eibachs on their own are pretty much ok for ground clearance most of the time (car parks, driveways, bumps, speedbumps etc.), but what about the Aero kit AND the Eibachs together?

Am I asking for trouble?

You'll find the splitter under the front bumper will scrape over bumps and up ramps. It does on mine lowered 30mm.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Is it a big problem though, or just slightly annoying? Can it be modified or filed at all so it doesn't do it?

Baring in mind mine will be lowered 50mm!!

i don't have an aero kit, but normal eibachs and lowering 30mm and the bottom of the normal bumper is in pretty bad nick....50mm and an expensive aero kit i reckon it'll look awesome but ur definatey asking for trouble.....

i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer....

I've got normal Eibachs now too (30mm lowering springs) and I don't scrape much at all - just if I go too fast up a ramp or driveway etc. Speedbumps are usually fine.

But as you say with the extra drop to 50mm AND the Aerokit.........

Hehe...

I've got 17" S-Spokes, with Toyo T1S 215/40 tyres. Lowering by 50mm.

What do you mean you can't park half on half off a kerb - you mean you can't have one wheel on the kerb and one wheel on the road (so the car's slanting)? I don't see why you can't do this??

Not a big problem no. If you go over bumps slow it's ok. Normally if you've got a bit of momentum it must compress the suspension enough to scrape. I have to put one wheel up over the cushion bumps or I will get a guaranteed scrape.

I must say though my splitter is in a bad way. Even the dealers said it's pretty bad under there. I think it does affect aerodynamics so probably not a good idea to go cutting it either.

It was acceptable in the 80's

If i park half on half off ie at a slant im wrecking the front lower lip which is attached to the bumper therefore wrecking that too

You mean because the middle of the lower lip is in contact with the edge of the kerb?

With me having 17" wheels as opposed to your 18's, I'll be a bit higher won't I?

Obviously with the extra 15mm I'll be dropping mine, we should be riding at about exactly the same height?

not sure as the walls on your 17" should be thicker ie the profile (i think)

im not a tyre guru but with 18"s imo you have to have lower profile to fit under arches as far as im aware but i think s-spokes on runflats are same if not slightly bigger than 18's with low profile tyres

i think
