United-Kingdom Clear Rear Lights - Road Legal?? Help

I've been offered a set of clear rear lights for my 2002 Mini One. They are identical to the BMW official ones except they don't come with the matching break light. On the box they say "for show only".

Could anyone explain how I make these road legal in the UK as I'm sure BMW Mini wouldn't sell them if they were "for show only"

Any help???

you need a set of reflectors to fit to the rear of the car with them which you can get the offical approved ones that make you legal from a MINI dealer or www.newministuff.com should be able to help you out

the offical MINI ones require cutting into the bumper, but, others including myself on my last MCS just simply fitted alternative red reflectors on the back, but not sure if they would pass an MOT when the car is 3 years old

Mine were some door sticky reflectors from Halfords for about £6

here are some other threads about this, one of which has the part number in there for MINI to order them for you and one which has details of someone that was stopped by the police for them:

Oh and there should be some photo's in some of those of different reflectors that people have fitted

Cheers Rakey
We have our small round ones (I have these on my car legality unknown but passes MOT)
& we have the genuine Mini ones http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=279

In this pic you can see the genuine Mini ones without their mounting cups so no cutting of the bumper They are stuck on just under the chrome strip
