Chilli Red and sunlight

I'm toying with the idea of getting a 2nd hand S rather than a One conv and I'm wondering how chilli red holds up to the sunlight. I've got a 6 year old Astra at the moment and that is going very pink. The roof is particularly washed out.

If i do get an S I only plan on keeping it 18 months so it would be nice if the paint still looks good without having to Tcut is regularly.

Anyone else out there with a 3 year old chilli red that still looks great?

Mines 2.5 years old and still looks like it did from new!

You can't T cut the colour as they are coated with clear lacquer!!!

Anyway if it's an S it will have a white roof!!!!

I have a 4 1/2 year old and still looks great. Clear coat paint really doesn't fade it's only the old style paint that has no clear lacquer that fades.

BTW your Astra can be restored fairly easily without spraying.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Thanks for the replys. I'm glad the paint is of a high quality.

I like the idea of an S for a short while before petrol gets stupidly expensive. I need to use it for work (rougly 15000 pa) so it won't be a long term adventure but long enough to have some fun.

I have T cutted my astra a few times. It looks great for about 6 weeks then it goes all pink again. I'm afriad if i do it too many times I'll have no paint left! plus its a good excuse to get a mini

Decisions decisions I need to make my mind up.

Well I have done 16,000 miles in 8 months and at 240miles to a tank full @ £40 I am currently in the process of trading in my S in for a Diesel!!!

The vauxhall red paint has always been abit dodgy, around the 1998's, the paint was shipped in from spain which didn't hold up too well to sunlight!

The MINI paint will be much better

It needs to be PC'd (Pro Random Orbit Polisher), sealed and waxed preferably with a wax that has UV protection. As long as the wax is kept topped up it should be good for a long time.
