Following on from the theft of my Comets from Bluewater I have now fitted a pair of 5" chrome Wipac's.
They are a nice lights but not in the same league as the Comets but I am not prepared to hang another £160 worth off the front off the car only to have them half inched. The Wipac's were £36.
I will wire them up at the weekend.
BTW, I bought them off of ebay from a guy trading under the name of Road Race and Rally. I can highly recommend him. I paid on Sunday, they were delivered this morning the 18th August.
Can these be placed anywhere along the front grille?
I was thinking of getting 2 sets so I would have a quadlamp setup, as am i right in thinking that BMW no longer do the quadlamps?
I might get them but not wire them up, I wish they would do dipped ones that come on just when the normal beems are on and not only flashing with full beam. Through most of summer I don't use my full beams so they would be cosmetic anyway!
I used the Hella brackets which dictate the position of the lamps due to one end of the bracket locating into a hole in the inner skin of the bonnet. I don't know about other brackets but assume that they will be similar.
I believe that Mini sport due a four lamp set up although that uses a bar to mount the lights from what I can remember.
Construction and Use regulations will prevent you from wiring in the spots to work on dip beam. You would also have a problem with them come the MOT.
I have wired my spots in with a switch on the "negative" side of the "switch side" of the spot light relay. That way I can disable the relay and hence the spots so that they don't operate all of the time.
I put the switch on the negative side on the basis that any fault in the wiring would simply allow the lights to operate rather than "short out " the loom.
The switch that I have used is a miniature chrome item similar to the switches for the windows etc. Works well.
