Roof Rack / Bars Advice

I get the impression that the Mont Blanc 3000 roof rack system is probably the best aftermarket solution but I can't find many online retailers and they don't seem to come any cheaper than around £130 odd.

Can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper?

Thanks

Surely there's someone here who can offer advice?

£130 quid sounds quite reasonable. I got mine from ''save and drive'' on the net. Still a lot cheaper than the MINI dealer fit

I have the mini fit ones, didn't know you could get ones that didn't need drilling.

I didn't either until I had a search around here, was quite surprised that theer is one and I don't think it's widely known. My only concern is that it's secure on the roof but the Mont Blanc one seems to be the better of the two I've heard will fit.

I want to get a roof box too so if anyone can recommend a decent one that's not too expensive that's be good. I've calculated it needs to be less than around 170/180cm length and 112cm width, at least that's what the roof roughly measured. Something a little smaller than that is probably best because I'd also like to use it on my classic which measured at around 160cm x 110cm - not that much different actually!

Okay I've now bought roof bars and a roof box from Save and Drive, thanks for the tip simeds. I got the Mont Blanc 3000 bars and a Mont Blanc TB480 box which is 150cm x 90cm x 35cm and has 380 litres of load space. Its about as big as you can on a MINI and I bought it in preferance to the smaller Mont Blanc RBX3200 which is 135cm x 85cm x 38cm with a capacity of 310 litres. I hope my measurements are correct because the box I've bought is pushing it in terns of size, especially for the classic, but I think/hope it'll be okay.

I'll report back with information on how I get on - should be able to put it to a proper test since I'm off to Scotland in a week and I'll have a fair amount to carry.

If I don't post until I get back expect something around the 28th of August
