Overall I bet non-mini enthusiats wouldn't really notice most of the changes. I bet they have changed the wipers to make the car more aero-dynamic. To be honest I still prefer my current S than the new one.

I have to agree with people saying that I would feel stupid having a scoop on the bonnet if it wasn't really needed, it would be like driving a RAV-4!!

Great job with the comparisons Paul. One thing i don't like is the front of the car,it reminds me the citroen ds "the frog mouth" (as we call it in Portugal) even though they don't have much in common.Looking up to the 2 models i prefer the lights and grill of the previous one but that's it..the rest is superbly designed..i guess i will get used to it

Excellent work Paul - real MINI2 dedication
And I'm a bit disappointed in most of those head-to-head shots to see less differences than my mind was telling me existed! Maybe the '07 won't be so bad after all ...

Oh feck, I just wrote a really long response... then closed the window.

Anyway, moving on... Paul, did you manage to get a side-on shot which could be compared to the current car?

Forgot to do that, also I have 16" wheels, so not such a good side on comparison. Click for large version.

Thanks Paul, interesting to see the side by side comparisons. I like the new spoiler but I think thats about it . From the side view you would be hard pressed to tell the difference waistline is a little higher on the new model. I expect BMW have buried the wipers away for pedestrian safety which will score it extra points no doubt. I can't accept the fake scoop, that is just plain rubbish and naff. Don't like the headlamps facing the sky. It's just the slippery slope for the car to get large, fatter and heavier, you see how it's front end has grown

Paul, is that Sparkling Silver in the background and a different new color in the foreground (also in the side shot)?
