Question A Complete Re-spray!!!

Mini2,

I currently drive a black/white cooper, I am getting buying an S off my mum, it would have done under 2000 miles and not driven above 40mph (she is getting new M3), but the thing is coming in electric blue and white. I love the colour - but it's not me, but i really want a black and white one.

Anyone have any ideas to how much a full body respray (excluding roof and mirrors) will be. I have been quoted £5000!!! Yes £5000!! But this is out of the question! I don't want to have to sell it before owning it!

any suggestions?

Alex.

Don't do it !!!

A fully re-sprayed car will be thought of by people like me to have a dodgy past.

You'd be better selling your mum's for a price not far off what she paid for it and ordering a car to the spec you want.

Ken.

Ken....

The car I am buying off of her (well my dad), has EVERYTHING on it except satnav! I want all these extras, only on a black and white cooper S, only coz i love chrome and i dont reckon all the chrome would look good on an elec blue S!!!

Dillema!!!

Not really a dilemma, you would be paying for the price of a Cooper S plus £5,000 for a respray. Hmmm. I would order a Black/White Cooper S Works.

Easy.

In short, don't even think about respraying, especially in a colour which is available from the factory!

the MINI has gone...

Don't do it. Even a £5000 respray won't be as good as factory. Sell hers, use the money to buy a new MCS in the color of your choice. From what I've seen here of people who have traded up from a MC to a MCS, resale on Coopers is quite strong, and you may only lose a £1000 on the swap, if that (since you'll be selling an MCS, not a Cooper).

Then you'll have £4000 to put towards ICE, or R90 wheels.

Black and White Rules!!!!

Have to say when gettin an S I'll be torn between Electric Blue, Dark SIlver and Solid Black. Only problem with Solid Black is that it will look like a Mini One Grill From the front. Hmmm Me thinks the Works Conversion will have a chrome grill (much like the chrome grill they put on there Aerodynmic Packed Cooper Works' cars
