Fast and Dirty. When fitting Spotlight Brackets (OEM Type), Pop Rivets or Self Tappers?

Your thoughts?

I'm just in the process of fitting my lights and not to sure how to secure the top part of the bracket. I can do the bottom two fine but where the hole for the top aligns is straight onto the bonnet, so I can't exactly drill there!! Does anybody have pictures of where the top of their brackets sit. I have got the official BMW mini install sheet but the actual brackets are third party off ebay. Your help would be much appreciated!

Actually it may not be the bonnet. Do I have to remove a black plastic strip to get in behind the top mounting location?

I secured mine using set screws, nuts & spring washers (prevents nuts falling off due to vibration).

Sorry BDL, more adding on then nicking Thought I would eliminate the need to start a new thread!

Just one more question, are there different size brackets as I really cant get mine to meet the underside of the bonnet at the top hole. There is a gap of about 1cm even when I push the bracket close to the grille.

No probs Rich

I must say, I have yet to offer up my brackets so cannot help on that. I'm hoping to do the install this weekend so either a success or a horror story is on its way!!

A tip ; if you are fitting spotlights (oem) , the dealers when they fit them , fit the upper rivet ,( its to stop the lights vibrating back and fore) through the plastic grill , over a short period of time the rivet pulls through the plastic and the rivet just dangles, and the lights vibrate, fit the rivet through the metal at the top , then the rivets stay in place - no more wobbly lights, it is also tidier to run the loom at the back of the plastic bulkhead out of sight ,and not just lay it in anywhere and use a load of tywraps. you can adjust the beams against a wall at night they should form a nice symetrical pattern equally spaced between the main beams and the same height-Adam
