Respray

Hey

I am looking at a full respray of my mini into a bit of a different metallic colour. I am thinking everything but the engine bay because obviously it would be a lot of work taking the engine out etc! Does anyone have any experience of this or any ball part figures I should be looking at?

Thanks a lot

Ives

At a guess I think your talking £3k depending on bodyshop and paint choice

A color change will definitely take a bite out of the resale value of your MINI

Well I was thinking a bright Orange with black roof and stripes. Already got the aero and want to finish it off with black works wheels! Not really too bothered about the resale value as if its something I like I dont want to be getting rid of it in a hurry! I had a rough quote of 3-5k from Lohen and 2.4k from Mini design. I think I would get a top job from Lohen.

with those kinds of prices you should ask your dealer how much they will charge, as they normally charge about £3500 for the flip paint respray, which is more complicated and more expensive paint.

For this job they use a base car in black, but you might need to have it primered first more so than a black MINI.

But like MINIAC say a respray will knock you on the resale value, as it is the ultimate personal touch and personalised cars are just that, to a personal taste. You should also consider what else you could do with that kind of money, as its a lot for something that will actually cost you when you sell the car, so could be a tidy sum of £4500 in the long term.

Mate,

there is a company called Perkins Automotive. They are based in Solihull, but are 1 of the best bodyshops in the UK. They carry out a lot of the bodywork you see in the modified scene and have heafty experience in resprays. They start at £1,500 upwards, and will do you an amazing job. Speak to perkins himself, and say you been reccomended by midzmodified and he will sort you out. thats my advice

i dont believe it is the paint that is more expensive - flip paint is made up of thin layers of different colour paints on top of each other. you dont have to have a black car, MINI use black cars as the pigment is very solid and makes a good base.

I know its a trek from Leeds/Norfolk, but we are a BMW/Mini approved bodyshop in East Sussex.

Our techs have worked many Minis, and know how to strip them right down without damage. We only use genuine BMW/Mini paints and materials.

Depending on bodywork condition, I would estimate between £1300 and £1500.

PM or call if interested
