DIY Help with Side mirror Unit

Some idiot kicked in my side mirror during the weekend and broke it. Now the joint is loose and won't stay in position. I managed to unscrew the whole unit from the body with an Allen key and disconnecting the wires. Does anyone know whether I need to buy the whole mirror unit from BMW (and what the OEM part numbers are) or just certain parts within the unit (i found it hard to try and dismantle the unit's joints). Thanks.

Smile DIY mirror unit

Well I took the initiative and called BMW parts and found out that they sold the side mirror unit as a whole (it doesn't come with mirror, motor or cover). The part no. was M51.16.7.058.077 and it only cost £25.60 after VAT. Got it home, and dismantle my old side mirror with an Allan key. Then removed the mirror (carefully - as it's easily breakable if tugged the wrong way) as well as the cover. The motor took quite a bit of effort getting out. Then reinstalled all the bits into the new mirror unit and job well done in 30 mins. Saved my self about a 100 quid or so avoiding sending it into BMW. Easy job for any DIY enthusiasts.
