all number plates on cars registered after 1.1.1973 have to be reflex-reflecting material, as far as I am aware there are no sticker versions of this, so I doubt you can do it legally.

this might also be of help

Slightly different, but round the corner from me is a silver cooper with the old style silver letters and nos on a black background for the rear plate as opposed to black on yellow. Not sure what the front plate is like as its always parked nose in on the drive. I guess this is not legal for the back plate? looks really good though and retro.

If I still had my One (or was driving a Cooper) I'd have done this, playing dumb to the legality/illegality until I was told otherwise.

Won't work on the Cooper S though, as the scoop gets in the way.

Just like to point out that these are 'Show-Plates' only and we do not manufacture aftermarket number plates.

We can supply vinyl show plates or as a decal where it would be used inconjunction with your normal 'Legal' number plate, as in our MC40 decal set, where the number plate is obviously 33 EJB.

Just wanted to clear this point up

Cheers
Phil.
