Question Screeching passenger window

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me? I've noticed that when putting my passenger window down, the window starts screeching. A quarter of the way down, the screeching stops. When putting the window back up it starts screeching on the last quarter again, but louder.

Has anyone had this problem or know what this problem is?

Thanks for your advice!

I've had this with both windows on both my MINI ONES, on my 03 ONE they fixed it by using lithium grease( sounds like something you would find on the uss enterprise). I took my current 04 ONE in for this a few months back and they said the windows were fine,NO THEY ARE NOT,they said that it was a little motor of some description in the drivers door that was making the noise(so why does the passenger window do it too)They replaced the little motor and its still squeaking. Not resolved.

It's the window rubbers. Get them replaced.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I've had this on my 04 - they replaced the window regulators over a year ago. It is now doing it again and is worse when it is wet.

I tried the window this morning and there was no noise. When I was putting it down yesterday, the window was very wet so this may be the problem.

It's rubber, for sure. The driver's window sounds more, because you use it more often.
I haven't seen big difference when the window is wet or dry, but in summer it makes more noise than in cold time. I think the rubber just getting bigger because of the higher outer temperature in summer.

BMW has a special lubricant for all the rubber window and door seals. It is teflon gel made by a company called CarbaFlo. The tube says CarbaFlo KSP105. I don't recomend asking the price since you'll have a coronary. If they have any ask them to apply it for you. This is the replacement for the product referred to as "Gummi Pfledge." Be sure to remove all traces of silicone from the seals prior to treatment or the stuff won't adhere.
