Some sort of screws?? Hi, On another thread, someone mentioned that they forgot to order the cap mounting screw and anchor (to hinge) - there is only one screw that holds this chrome the chrome cap. Do you know what he's talking about? And if so, can you please let me know what all the part numbers you ordered were? One more thing, did you paint the part yourself, or did you take it somewhere to be painted?

The actual cap is locked with the car so unless they're trying to steal it whilst you're in the car then you should be ok. The chrome part screws onto a hinge so it is actually less vandal or theif proof than the original Cooper one which can be twisted off. the MINI has gone...

We documented the S cap install over at www.minicooperonline.com - look under the "How To" section. We also sell the complete kit with detailed instructions. -Peter/RSpeed RSpeed Mini * Mini Performance and Accessories from around the world * http://www.rspeed.net

I CAN'T BELIEVE I DID SOMETHING TO MY COOPER BEFORE MONSTA! DO I GET A CERTIFICATE? p.s. be careful of the the torx screw when fitting, it was tight and I over forced it, the result was a snapped of screw head and a filler cap now held on with a zip tie (don't ask!). I will get some fots done when i've worked out my new digi camera! Like it has been said above, the assembly can only be removed when the car is unlocked, so there should be no problems with theft. Just be careful about scratching the £35 (f@cking h@ll!) paint job when fitting.

Sounds a bit more complicated than i thought!! if some one has had success doing this then i would be willing to pay (if the price was right!!) http://www.minicooperonline.com/modu...wto&file=index Hold on, ive got a plan!!

£33 for the parts (cap, hinge and screw) and £35ish for the paint job. It realy is EASY. I was a bit scared when I actually had the bits laid out infront of the cooper, but if you take your time, mask any paint work (if it makes you feel better), and just take it one step at a time. I didn't bother to jack the car up and unbolt everything from inside - to loosen the filler neck. If you've got the nerve you've just got to use a little brut force. It takes a few attempts when you try to force the new hinge back in, but it suddenly pops in, and the rest is plain sailing. Make sure you have one of those clear touch up paint stick thingys ready. The paint came off the clip that they warn you about, but it doesn't show when the new (or old) parts are in place. You can't beat the feeling of doing stuff yourself (unless there's baby oil and naked ladies involved!).
