I'm thinking for fitting some chilli red wing mirror caps to my 02 DS MCS. Does anyone know how much a new pair of mirror caps would be from a mini dealer?
I was quoted over £130 for a pair of astro black mirror caps! There is no way MINI can justify that price, having had the originals off, and being able to look at the design, there really is nothing to them, a simple plastic moulding which probably costs pennies to produce!!
Luckily however I managed to get a pair of astro's from a fellow MINI2'er for £45.
I'd go for the JCW Carbons because like you say, they're not much more, and they do look very cool.

They might not be as much as you think....see some of the E-Bay examples below. I know your in AUS but I'm sure E-Bay would turn up similar results over there?
Agreed.
Here are just a few examples of whats on E-Bay at the moment.... (as far as I'm aware all genuine MINI items...) There are quite a few on there at the mo....
Brand new:
JCW Carbon Fibre - buy it now £159.99 inc postage:
White - seller is saying they will only fit 06 plate onwards (dont look like R56 caps though, so don't know if they changed the design towards then end of the R50/53 production or what?)
But i have not got the aero kit and have a black roof and black r105 wheels. was gonna get a carbon air scoop and tailgate handle and the chilli red caps.
i bought some chrome mirror caps from my local dealer for my 54 plate mini. does anyone no how to fit um? because i havent got a clue and im not taking it to any garage to be fitted because ive jus paid out £1500 for a new ******* gearbox! thanks
Can of plastic primer £5 Can of your colour £5 can or clear lacquer £5.
news paper on floor, few good coats of each and leave to dry.
bang em on the car,,,
job done
and for chelsea, its a bit of a pain, but behind the mirror glass there are 4 clips, with a flat screw driver and a bit of bravery you can pop up the clips and pull the cap away, i say be brave as you do have to push the mirror glass about abit to get to them.
