Mikey...Is there any way to fit these to a pre facelift? I assume the connectors are the same just that the reversing light on the new lamp won't be active/work? presumably the rear reverse in the pre faclifts will still just work independant of these lamps being fitted. If not a straight bolt and plug is there a way to get them working on a prefacelift without too much hassle. I really fancy these instead of my black projectors.

Richard,

It should be simple enough as I exchanged the tail lamps on my pre-facelift Cooper for the later ones with relatively simple mods to exchange fog and reversing lamp wiring.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they look like in real life and how much they are...

Tigger.

Looking forward to seeing these Mikey. Will you be getting ones that look stock i.e. not clear like the ones you've posted.

Will they be E marked?

I've already got LED brake lights and indicators but would like a 'proper' solution.

The going rate for LED taillights I'd say.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I like what i am seeing and will definitely be getting a set, im curious to see the versions that Mikey comes up with vs. the 2 red ones that were posted. I came up with something based on Mikeys design that would be legal and avoid the need for mounting red reflectors somewhere on the rear.
I noticed the design already had a reflector at the bottom so i just made it red but left the rest clear and i kinda like it. Since you have to have red somewhere to be legal.

Also i would be surprised if you see a LED reverse light anytime soon. Its not a light thats used nearly as much as brake/turn lights. So the cost to make it LED isnt worth it to most manufacturers plus theres no safety benefits to LED reverse lights either. BUT it would be nice if the turn indicator was LED on these lights but im just happy there are LED taillights at all. I was learning my fabbing and wiring skill to make some of my own.
