Just a quick question regarding Cooper S bumpers, and whether or not they can be fitted to a ONE D. Baisically, I have found these bumpers on E-Bay, in the right colour for my car (astro black)
What I want to know, is obviously the ONE D's exaust is hidden behind the rear bumper, and the Cooper S has twin central zausts... BUT could I simply remove the bottom of my bumper and clip that onto the S bumpers, to repace the one with the cut out for the exausts.
Which would then in effect 'blank out' the recess for the twin exausts, and keep my exaust hidden? The reason I ask is because it looks to me as if its a seperate piece to the rest of the bumper.
The bit I am refering to is the trim I have tried to highlight here... (excuse the old pic of the car and the crude labeling )
Any help would be appreciated, I dont know if I can get those bumpers on E-Bay right now, as I have just bought a new Laptop for Uni next year, but it would be good to know if this was a feasible mod that I could do...
Regards,
James.

This is all I did when I replaced my MINI One Bumpers with MCS bumpers. Replaced my offset exhaust exit where the S trim goes. Very simple but I can't really confirm that the One D bumpers are a straight swap for the MCS ones. I'm sure there must be a reason MINI didn't change the bumpers when it came to facelift time which might cause a problem here?
Its re-assuring to know that the trim can be switched easily
I think the main reason why MINI left the ONE D bumpers alone was that the engine requires a larger front intake for the intercooler, as the diesel engine needs more air. But I dont think this would be a problem, because the S front bumper has a pretty large front intake, infact I'd say it was either the same size, or slightly larger.
I know of a ONE D with Cooper S bumpers, but the guy has an aftermarket twin exuast system on it, so the rear bumper has been heavily modified anyway.... which was why I wasnt sure if it was possible to simply replace the bumper trim.
So based on that I should think they would fit ok for me?

I think that it shouldn't be a problem then. The bottom trim just rips off and reattachs - easy! The only problem I had with the whole bumper replacement was that the front fog lights need to be moved up or down (can't remember) in the bracket they sit in which requires 3 new holes to be drilled into the frame work. easy to do really. Just pre-warning you.
If you need any hints or tips just let me know.
Its going to look brilliant with the bumpers but as you can see I'm a fan of Black Ones!
When i swapped mine I think you also needed to use the 2 lower parts of your plastic rear arch trims as the S ones are a slightly different shape to match the S lower bumper/exhaust plastic trim.
Barry (OneD) had either MCS bumpers or an aero kit on his One D, worth speaking to him, but it proves it can be done and I think he even went as far as putting the MCS exhaust on it too.
By the look of the pictures it already has a chrome lower grille, so you wouldnt even need to do that.
Personally if i was you, id leave it as it is, it looks great already!

Oh yes ignore me - the ebay S bumpers are already coming with a chrome lower grille. Forget my comment - just assuming that the S bumpers didn't have the exterior chrome pack - most of the S's I've seen don't. SORRY!
Aero kit grille would look cool too but then your loosing even more chrome than you had before!
