Advice on cleaning dirty hood stripes?

Washed, clay barred, polished, and waxed my 2003 British Racing Green MCS this weekend. Noticed my white hood stripes had lots of brown spots on them which would not come off despite my efforts. Anyone else notice a similar problem?

My guesses as to the cause of the spots:

* these pots were on the stripes at some point (previous owner days, I just bought this car in Feb 07) and then were waxed over without being cleaned first. But if this is the case, I would have thought my clay bar should have stripped off that wax and then got down to the spots, and cleaned them)

* this is some type of effect from the glue underneath the stripe, seaping to the surface from sunlight effects

Any ideas on the cause? Any advice on how I can clean up the stripes?

I get the same problem on my stripes but they clean up with vinyl cleaner (stripes are made of vinyl). I use Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care. Hope this does the trick for you!!

I have stripes on mine and they have marks on the roof and bonnet, the rest of the stripes are fine, i think its just wear and tear im soon to replace mine!
