Colour coding spot light covers

Hi all,

I have recently bought some spot light covers (by the way thanks to Chris from Derek Woodman BMW MINI!) and I want to colour code them. My Cooper S is Indi Blue with white bonnet stripes and white roof. I was thinking of painting them the same colour as the car and then painting the MINI logo on the front of them white? Not sure yet, I might just paint them white.

I wondered if anyone else has done this at all, and can I see some photos.

And secondly, what does it involve, as they have a slight texture, similar to that of the arches. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

He's a busy man Rams, sure he get a reply sorted at some point.

I dont think as much effort will be needed as the arches do because there will not be as much flex in these covers but as you say you will need to get rid of the orange peel effect then they can be sprayed as normal.

No rush Rams, it can wait. Any info you can provide me with would be gratefully recieved, such as:

did you do it yourself
did you have to rub the surface down to make it flat and smooth
what sort of paint did you use and where did you get in the MINI colours
did you use primer
and how did you go about painting the MINI logo in a different colour.

Hope you have a good stag do by the way!

Ta, Mike

No, a lad I know down at BMW did them
did you have to rub the surface down to make it flat and smooth
Yes they have to be flatted down to make the primer stick
what sort of paint did you use and where did you get in the MINI colours
Genuine paint from BMW, using the sereal code from your car will get an exact match
did you use primer
yes
and how did you go about painting the MINI logo in a different colour
I think he just masked off the Mini logo the stands off the caps

Yep mines Indi blue. I'd be grateful if you could find out. I have the caps in hand so I would have to send them off to him. I take it he does them sort of privately, rather than through BMW?

Mike

He doesn't work for them anymore but he did my colour coding on my trims.

He's a perfectionist orright, how about aksing him for colour coding the car for you like mine.

I've never seen and Indi Blue Coded before but I bet it looks great.

Cost wise it'll be about £300 all done, which is a saving of around £600 on BMW prices
