Removing Decals on Bonnet Stripes...

Evening (or morning) all,

We looked at a MINI we are considering buying yesterday.

It was great although the last owner decided to really 'S' is up, by adding:

* Cooper S Decals on the passenger side Dash panel
* 'John Cooper S' Decals on BOTH bonnet stripes. Underneath they are the standard black bonnet stripes, and you can cleary see where the last owner has stuck the decals over the surface of the stripe. The decals are in an arial font, and look terrible

The first one should come off with some heat and patience. However it is possible of getting the decals off the bonnet stripes? I assume i cant use heat, as the bonnet stripe will peel off, maybe even take the bonnet stripe colours off!

So any ideas on removing the decals off bonnet stripes

Thanks for any input!

I love that- "S it up"

that's funny.

Other than complimenting you on your phrasing, I don't have much help to offer.

i'm pretty sure whatever solution is offered to remove the decals will invariably remove or at least affect adversley the decals underneath. from what I know, heat is the preffered method, but who knows, if you are patient and careful enough you may get lucky.

you may want to research a local bodyshop. maybe call the MINI or BMW dealer and ask them who does their repairs and then call them.

they may be kind enough to advise you over the phone.

your other option of course is to further "S it up" and go for some sort of record.

I recently was entering the highway from an on-ramp and to my delight was waved on by a brand new Cooper S. a real nice dark silver.
I reciprocated with a hand wave and watched as he accelerated to pass. to my horror he had a rediculously sized decal across the bottom of his passenger door that read "Cooper S" also set in some under considered, ill-spaced blocky type with a giant red S that didn't even pretend to be influenced by the small tastefull one on the side markers.
I can only assume that there was one on the drivers side.

to each his own I suppose, but please...a lilttle restraint people.

best of luck "S-ing down your new ride"

Hi,

Use a hairdryer to soften the glue the carefully peel off, there maybe some glue residue left which can be removed quite easily if rubbed with petrol/turps and a soft cloth.

Hope this helps.

Ian

I'm with Ian on this one, if you use the heat sparingly and be gentle you may get away with it.

Thumbs up Removing Decals on Bonnet Stripes...

You need to be careful when using a metal blade to remove decals from a car as it might cause damage to the paint work. Heat and chemicals are suitable in some situations though it can damage the paint of the car if there has been a re-spray. Last week I found a product which proves capable in removing decals from cars and it really worked. You can visit the website decalstickerremover.com for decal removing products. Wonder rubber wheels and plastic blades are very capable in doing this job as they leave less probability of fatalities and take less time as compared with the other decal removing products.
