USA style corner lights linked to indicators

When I get my new USA style bumper trims with the little lights, I was thinking of somehow linking the new lamps to the indicators. What I'd like to do is:

1) When the sidelights are on, the corner lights are on. When the indicators are then activated, the corner lights flash with the indicators.

2) When the sidelights are off, the corner lights are off. When the indicators are then activated, the corner lights flash with the indicators.

Does anyone know if this is even possible, and if it is how? Is it even a good idea

That does sound like a pretty cool idea actually - if it's possible, I'm sure Mikeythemini would know how to do it!

Interesting
Firstly - the front arch lights are orange BUT the rear ones are red
I am not sure if adding more lights to the indicator circuit will cause any issues (if you have less they flash fast) I dont think it will as they are only 3 watt
You could make them dual purpose - just use diodes to stop them back feeding into the other circuits

The kit is £80 + vat
Postage £5
You can paint them just like the rest of the black sections on the mini but it must be done with the right stuff to prevent flaking

OK. Got all the corner pieces etc, thanks Mike!! So, how might I go about making the corner lights dual-purpose (leaving the rears for now)? I guess I've only got feeds for both the indicators, and side lights........

Do these kits plug straight in to sockets on the loom?

As for using the front ones as indicators aswell as side light, I can only see two options.

These are assuming the lights are 5w bulbs.

1> Use a relay system to knock out the side light feed to the light and let feed of the flashing indicator circuit.

2> Use a two filament bulb, like a side(5w)/brake(21w) bulb. Lots of American spec cars use these at the front like on BMW's etc... They usually have amber side lights on the front so they use the indicators with a two filament bulb. However, these bulbs baybe too big for the fitting but you may find a smaller LED alternative.

Just some ideas...

You would need to positive switch them as indicators during the day and negative switch them when the sidelights are on.

Just like US rear brake and turn lights.

Hi Dave, how's tricks?

I guess I know what to do, but not how. What should I get/make up to replicate the US switching style? Can I get these bits from Maplin say?

Paul.

Do the lights plug in to a existing socket on the MINI? How did you get amber lights for the rear, are the just the same as the front or is there a country that has ambers at the rear.
