| Hello Fellow MINI Lovers.. All of us have favorite(s) in terms of color -- but I am LITERALLY torn between my favorite two. I have ordered a Cooper -- Velvet Red w/Black Roof -- but I have just seen 'in person' an AWESOME Pepper White with the Black Roof. Both are very beautiful colors (in my opinion) I am generally an extremely decisive girl...but this time, I'm "Torn between Two Coopers". ![]() PLEASE, give me your thoughts on the two color choices. If you hate them both, this query does not apply to you. Thanks for any help that you all can offer. and if you're already driving your MINI,Congrats and HAPPY MOTORING! | Velvet Red was my second choice but I had to go with my first (Silk Green) because its being phased out and less of them are seen around. Whites not my thing so between the two I'd vote Velvet red |

Velvet is nice but,,,, I'm kinda partial to Pepper.... 2004 Pepper White Copoper S on order :white: 2002 Pepper White/Black Cooper, 9800 miles :white: 1972 Gunmetal Innocenti Cooper 1300, miles unknown

Velvet or Pepper Velvet Red has a romantic look to it and Pepper White has a sophistcated air, very tailored. Which is closer to your personality? They are both great colors, but I too would take Silk Green over either... Ms Mini

I think Ann said it well when she called Velvet Red more "romantic," and Pepper White more "sophisticated," or something to that effect. I favor Velvet Red personally, though I'm uncertain of exactly why; it does have something to do with the warmth of it, though, and the nuance it conveys. I agree that the Pepper White and black is sharper, so it's kind of a question of whether you perfer warm and comfortable, or sharp and classically classy. It seems that Pepper White is better accepted by more people, so that could count in its favor, or against, depending upon your perspective. Here again, I prefer the road less traveled; I do want to be different. Of all the colours available for the MINI, Velvet Red would be my choice if it were available for the S. The only reason I'd want to give a lot of thought to something else is that I also particularly love the Tartan Red interior, whcih I think would be dreadful with a Velvet Red car-- so, I'd want to consider Red or Indy Blue or something, and compare them. OOOOOooooh, but HERE's a thought! Pepper White with the Tartan Red interior-- oh my GOSH, that's IT! DANG, that's fanTASTIC! Are there some pictures of one of those somewhere? WOW. Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying.

both are great colours, personally i'd say velvet, but i'd get the white roof and silver 16" 5-stars and beige leather interior. i agree with most of what's said above, except the suggestion that velvet red is a colour for older buyers. i don't get that feeling at all after seeing it in person. it's downright sexy. i also don't think colour fading is going to be a problem, that's just not true anymore. plus bmw are know for their high quality paints/paintjobs. there are a couple awesome pictures here. cooper s '05 x brg/white/chrome, cordoba/anthracite/chrome, flik wasp 17x7 x delivered july 26th 2005 cooper '02 replaced x brg/white, R83 white, chrome, cordoba x built june 21st, arrived july 15th on the traviata, delivered july 26th 2002

Personally I've never been a big fan of white cars in general..... but i saw the first pepper white mini (W/ black roof) at a mini meet i attended on the 15th.... and it looked GREAT! But..... i can see your dilemma..... because i have seen (not the picture in this thread) a velvet red mini, with a black roof... and that just amazed me!! The hue of the red...... it's just a great color! If i wasn't so hellbent on getting my chili red/black roof.... I'd definately go for the velvet red/black roof!! So, I'd say go for velvet red! Also if you're going fo uniquity... I'd say velvet red because i have not seen too many of them around! (especially w/ the black roof!) Hope i could be of some help! Good luck! ![]() here are some great pix of the velvet red w/ black roof! (my 2nd favorite after chili red w/ black roof) ![]() ![]() Last edited by DaveFrehley; Sep 27th, 2002 at 01:33 AM.

a practical thought I've never been someone who obsessively washed my cars (I take good care of the mechanics, but I could care less if it was dirty on the outside). That was the case until I got my MINI. Now I'm out washing it all the time. Someone at a MINI meet said it great, "...we're sort of ambassadors for the brand, its an obligation to keep our MINIs looking good..." So, your color dilemma; velvet red is great (was my second choice) and pepper white is great, but a white car will show dirt more than a dark colored car (with the exception of black, which also shows dirt well). Obviously you will love your MINI and will be washing it when ever possible, but you will likely be washing a pepper white more than the velvet red.

I saw a Velvet Red One (I think it was a One) in a dealer's show room, and to be honest, it looked more like a metallic brown to me ![]() I do not believe it would contrast well with a black roof, and it would look odd with a white roof ![]() Much prefer the Pepper White/Black combination myself. Mind you, all these coming from a person who has very dubious taste in colour! ![]() My 2 whatever! DK

I forgot to mention.... Apparently there was a lady who ordred a Velvet Red Cooper (not sure about the roof colour) after seeing just a small colour sample. On the day of collection, she took one look at the car and said, sorry, made a mistake, and declined the car. The dealership was kind enough to let her order another car apparently!!! DK

The first thing I'd say is: don't worry too much about the choice! You will be absolutely delighted with both your car and its color. Second: choose what *you* will like, rather than what you think others might like "for you". Third: you can change your mind pretty much right up until your car hits the production line! Many, if not most, people here have flip-flopped on color choices. I cycled through red w/white top and blue w/white before settling. Fourth: Go with Pepper White! It is excellent, and will hide the dirt much better than a darker color will anyway. (just a suggestion of course!) Fifth: enjoy! 2002 Pepper White Cooper 5 speed, Black roof w/ spoiler, sunroof, Black kaleido cloth sport seats, silver 7-hole wheels, DSC, front fogs, chrome lines, MFSW, built 8/7, acquired 9/12

| My vote is for Pepper White with black roof, mirrors and bonnet stripes. I've seen this and Velvet Red in person and much prefer the Pepper White. The Velvet Red is too dark, IMO, more of a dark brown as others have said above. Hopefully you can see both in person before the last date you can change your mind. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart!
