Smile MCS 53 Plate - Xenon Lights - 6000k - Help

Hello All Mini Owners,

This is my first post on the site so I hope that I have listed it in the right section... I need some help finding the right dipped headlight bulbs for a factory fitted xenon light (2003)

I am unsure what type of bulb I need - (I think it might be a H7???) I have just had a set of halo sidelights installed on my car which are alot bluer compared to the xenons and I would like the xenons to match.

I have tried to do some research and I think I need a set of 6000k bulbs but I dont know where to get hold of them or what is good or bad about cheap ones etc...

Sorry for all the questions but I am a newbie, I hope someone can help me

Many Thanks,
Max

Thanks for the link Jakeyjp, I will give Mike a call at some point... sorry to ask another question but will 6000k bulbs be street legal (i.e. not too blue in colour) I don't want to invest in something that's not 'above board'

Many Thanks once again,

Max

D2R you need.
However you have not got the projector type bulbs which are D2S.

I would stick with 4300 k. 6k Is street legal, I have them, never had a problem with them

Are D2R the type of bulbs or a supplier of the right bulbs? Sorry but I am a complete newbie about all this .... How blue are we talking with the 6000k bulbs?

Please explain for the simple people out there

D2R is a Type of Bulb, for the MINI there is:

D2R or D2S

If you google that or search for 1 of those types in Ebay, there are plenty of 6000k bulbs around, I guess the 6000k aren't too blue, 8000k is very blue and more likely to gt you pulled over by the police.

So I would go for these:

2 x HID XENON REPLACEMENT BULBS D2R 6000K on eBay, also Head Lamps, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-Jul-08 00:48:40 BST)

Or similar, They will be the 20 to 40 mark, you can get more expensive bulbs which will be manufactured better but they are around 70 odd.

Thanks for your help ALD0

You so that if you pay more then they will be manufactured better - is it the old chestnut 'you get what you pay for'? Would 30-40 for a set of D2R be a waste of money or am I better off spending more for a better build?

Many Thanks in advance

Yeah it's the same old chestnut, I presume would go down to beam alignment that sort of thing. Mine were 30 a pair, Previous to that I had bought a set for 70 a pair. The only difference I could notice were that the cheaper set were not as blue than the more expensive set, but still give off a good beam pattern and light discharge.
