Cooper S front bumper on a Cooper?

Hi,
I have a 2003 03 plate Cooper with the horrible pre-facelift chrome bumpers on the front and back (sausages as I call them). I've had the car since Feb 06 and its time for to sort it out.

I can get hold of an Aero rear bumper and a Cooper S standard front bumper for less than 200 quid for the pair (will need repainting Indi Blue though) I assume the rear bumper will fit on easy peasy, but the Cooper S front I'm not so sure about. Anyone know about this?

Also becasue I have crashed the car before, the front bumper is held on with different fasteners because the old ones broke off. I didn't do the repair - but how on earth are you actually supposed to attatch a used bumper? Are there clips or bolts or something?

Cheers
Karl

I did this on my first MC (which happened to be Indi Blue! )...It's a pretty easy job that me and my dad did one afternoon, if I remember rightly you can re-use the bolts...you might have to get some from the MINI dealer.....and if I remember rightly they're plastic bolts which aren't always great, so it might be useful to have a couple spare anyway!! Changing the front bumper is slightly trickier as you have to move to fog lights out a bit to correspond with the holes for them on the S bumper, but still dead easy!! If you do a search on here there's loads written about it!!
Here's a link to a thread I've found from when I changed my bumpers....

Have a yarn with Dean (deano) or Colin (darthbladerni) here on m2, both of them have done it to prefacelift MINIs, Dean's a Cooper, and Colin a ONE - either of them should be able to give you some pointers

hey Karl,

as wincakes and Nylo has said before I have also fitted the S bumpers onto a cooper, front and back which IMHO looks

really the two bumpers are the same and should fit on quite easily, the fact that youre car was in an accident should hopefully be ok, as long as you have bolts to mount either end, it should sit on there grand!

heres a picture of the front, and if you take the rear trim off the back of the old one, the cooper S exhaust exit should line up too!

Hi guys. I recently bought a mini cooper 53 plate but like Karl i want the cooper S bady kit. I figured that the front bumper of a mini s would fit however i was a bit confused with the back bumper as the cooper s has two exhausts in the centre wheres the cooper on has onw which is to the side. But the image above shows the fir perfect however the space for the exhaust in the centre in missing. Could some one please help me.

Irfan

The black plastic lower trim on all the One,Cooper and Cooper S bumpers can be unclipped and swapped over with each other depending whether you have a centre or side exit exhaust tailpipe. The black plastic trim has been colour coded to the main bumper section in the above photo but is available seperately from your Mini parts dealer and is not very expensive or just swap over your existing bumper trim.

No..........the R56 bumpers will not fit earlier 2003 R50/53 Mini's, surrounding body panels and grille are different shapes. R53 MCS bumpers will fit your R50 Cooper no problem though.

It was the black plastic bit which is behind the bumper, I have sorted it out thank you. I have a reverse light in my bumper if I put on a cooper s bumper will the reverse light fit into the cooper s bumper. My car is a r53 cooper.
Thanks,
