HELP - LED Number Plate Bulbs

Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help me, I am thinking of upgrading my number plate bulbs to LED's or just a whiter bulb? (Saw a BMW today with LED's over the number plate-nice!!!)

I am unsure which to buy as I have read LED replacements cause problems with the warning light on the dashboard! Has anyone got LED's over their number plate (are they legal?). Any pictures, comments and/or tips would be great!

Thanks

Has anyone installed LED lights for over their number plate? Any advise or images from people?

Is it worthwhile investing in just white light bulbs instead of the standard yellow lights?

Thanks

Just to let people know but I managed to source some 36mm festoon white LED bulbs off eBay and have fitted them with no problems.

There was no warning noise for the 'bulb out' problem people have spoken about and they look so much better. I bought the bulbs from these guys off eBay.

eBay UK Shop - LLLEDs: BA15s straight pin, T11 4 LED, BAY15D straight pin

Just thought I'd be helpful and post my feedback,

Thanks

As promised here are two photographs of the LED lights installed (sorry for the crappy quality). I have no before photos, but they were just the stock yellowish lights that come with the car.

I think you can see that these are a huge improvement!

One thing I would say is that you make sure you purchase the 36mm festoon LED bulbs. I have read else where on this site that people have used 39mm which just didn't fit on my R53 Cooper S... The 36mm fit like a glove!

I hope that helps aswell

Ive done this same mod on my clubman and it looks great. I used standard sidelight bulbs i had a range to try out and they all fitted fine. Great Look

Im thinking about putting white LEDS in the front parking/standing light (is the correct name? the light in the same housing as the front indicator??) as they look a bit "yellow" compaired with the xenons...

Is the correct replacement?

Ebay LLLED store

Has anyone done this one???

Thanks in advance

Jonty.

I have them on my BMW and they don't knock on the Bulb warning light. There was normal bulbs in before the LED's.

these looks good, one of my number plate bulbs stopped working so i've ordered these + sidelight bulbs as i really hate the yellow with the Xenon's.

The numberplate ones were 6x LED though, didn't have any 4x
