United-Kingdom Replacing Original Spots with WIPAC - Wiring Problem

Hi, I wondered if someone could offer some advice.

My Mini Cooper had original factory fitted spots which, like many others, had rusted. I purchased some stainless steel WIPAC replacements but I've hit a problem and I wondered if anyone could offer some advice.

I removed the old spots without any problems and fitted the new ones to the original brackets. I reconnected the red/yellow wire to the white wire that was connected directly to the bulb. The shop told me that the WIPACs are self earthing so I just left the brown earth wire disconnected. The black earth wire that is connected to the bulb just connects back to the spot casing.

When I finished I tried the spots and only one side worked. I check all the wiring and retested and now both sides won't work. I've checked both bulbs and they look fine. All the other lights on the car (including full beam work fine)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do
I wondered if there was a separate fuse for the spots that might have blown - I looked but couldn't see one?
Also do I have the wiring correct- including the earth?
Should I have disconnected the battery - have I shorted something?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Brad

Hi
If your lamps are factory fitted they should be a fuse carrier behind the battery compartment located on the wing side. A little black box with rubber cap. Check the fuse think it's a 10A
