Passenger Side Door Mirror...

Just had my passenger side door mirror knocked and the glass fell out so I popped into Halfords and picked up what they classed as standard glass mirror for all Mini Cooper models. When I got back and put the glass on it was magnified massively so I took it back in as the standard one wasn't. They gave me a refund but told me that it was the standard replacement and that is all I would be able to get hold of.

BMW want £50 for the replacement glass which I am not prepared to pay so just wondering if you guys have had any experience with the replacement glass and whether or not they are all magnified as standard and if not where I can get my hands on the real thing?

I have an 06 Mini Cooper S, any help appreicated, cheers!

Hi mate, the halfords ones are never good to buy, and mostly plastic. Good you got your £ back Dont worry with main dealer!

There are lots on ebay, also check if yours is heated? Also a good bet instead of fleebay is Eurocarparts!! google them. Within a couple of days you will have a replacement original mirror for around £20-25!!

There are even complete units for around £30 with glass (fleebay)

Thanks for the reply man.

Managed to find the glass (convex and wide angled and not flat like Halfords say it is?!) and the plastic black back plate on eBay so hopefully that should arrive sometime today.

So just a heads up in the future for anyone else, it seems Halfords, Charlie Browns etc etc all stock the same standard mirror which is magnified and not the proper mirror.

eBay did it for me!
