Aero Front Bumper Damage

my Gen1 JCW S was involved in a little "fender bender" at the weekend. Basically some woman (not saying anything against woemn drivers) decided to knock into me parking. Luckily I was sitting in my car at the time not to say she wouldnt have lef ta note. Anyway she put a stratch on the wing mirror cover and caught the front right wheel arch trim and the black trim on the front bumper (Aero). Basically I want to get it fixed and fixed right, she said she wants it to go through her insurance so taking up to my garage at the weekend. The car is immacuate and I want it fixed right so I wont be touching up if it's not going to be 100%. Any idea on how the attached should be repaired, or to get 100% does it mean replacing the front bumper?

No way will they replace the bumper imo just the plastic bits unless anything underneath them is damaged. I would tell your insurer that you want the vehicle taken to your choice of garage, you are entitled to do this.

That really is a piece of cake to sort.....it wants a new plastic moulding that sits on the bonnet (about £30 from BMW) . I wouldnt advise repairing it as they are a "textured" finish and you wont be happy with the finish if you are super fussy, they are a 10 minute job to fit.

The black section on the aero bumper needs masking of from the grey body colour section and painting in situ. No need at all for a new bumper.

And the wing mirror cover pops of and can be easily repaired/painted.

Its half a days work for any bodyshop.....or i will do it on my drive for £100 all in!! http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-gen...ead-enjoy.html

tedward its Not so easy as it looks. The Aero front bumper unlike the sports bumper on the R53 is all one piece and comes textured from BMW apparently. Although I've not taken the bumper off to check from behind, I cant see any obvious joint to show they're two separate pieces. I wonder is it worth taking the inner skirt off to get a good look at the rear, if it's one piece I assume from behine it will be one colour thus setting the issue.

I've not got the work done yet but going to give a repair a shot cause it's on the corner and only a inch long worth a try. I wish it was a pull off piece and just replace for new, but to do a entire bumper for that just isnt fair. Saying that I've told the paint shop it has to be 100% or we'll have to look at something else. I'll post photo's and we'll see how it goes.

Your right the side black textured bits that you can usually change are part of the areo front bumper which is £226.67 + the vat which comes in primer so you have to put the cost of prep paint and fittingon top.
