R56 rear bumper on and R50 ?

Hi everybody i'm new to the site and mini ownership great site...... does the R56 rear bumper fit on a 2006 facelift R50,got a chance of getting one cheap locally in the same colour as mine is damaged.

Doubt it, the R56 is larger all round Im told. Although you think they are the same until you park them together then the extra size is noticable, and the new new MINI is now even bigger, its a fact that as car models evolve they get bigger, just like human evolution.

Someone has cut down in width and joined a front to fit an early model so no doubt you could with some work do the same with the rears, not easy, bit messy, but could be do able.

But then youd need a repaint anyway.
