New DIY guide on clear sidelights/indicators.

[d.i.y.] How to install 'clear' front indicator bulbs and 'whiter' side

Hope that's useful.

I once failed an MOT as the inspector thought my indicators were not orange enough. Actually they didn't fail me, they just changed the bulbs for new fresh ones.

So, I wonder about the legality of these bulbs. Do they still look orange?

If they don't why would anyone want to make their indicators non-orange and possibly less obvious to other drivers

When they flash they are just as orange as the standard bulbs.

OK, thanks.

KenL scratches head:

I'm still missing something though - what's the point if they still flash orange

As it says in the DIY, to remove the 'fried egg' appearance. They appear clear when not lit, and flash orange.

So, instead of a half clear half orange bulb arrangement under your clear headlights and above your clear foglights (if you have any) you get nice clear looking lights there too.

It's just a styling thing.
