Blue Cooper New Rally Lights & Stripes & Roof for my MINI

So I finaly got to do the ext of my car, my indi blue was just looking naked before.

Specal thanks to Tom Byrne @ Byrne Graphics (805)495-7531 for the all the vinyl install and geting me a good deal on the vinyl cutting. Not to menton a heck of a good time hanging out at his studio for the install.

This is my new favorite shot of my car:

It says SoCal MINI Maniacs across the top front in red, I have it in white on the back in the same spot.

And here is the custom Spiderman I made for the roof:

Not the most fantastic picture of it, but you can see it. If you look on the right you can also see the SCMM logo on the boot.

And lastly, I have been scouting the route for a "Dangerous Curves Ahead Run" I hope for this to me an SCMM run in late May, I still need to finalize the route and present it to the leads.

And just for good show, a nice side shot:

Well lads what do you think?

Really good looking. What kind of rallye lights did you opt for?

Very nice, very clean. I notice the lights are on a bar and are mounted higher than the MINI ones. Where are they from and what was involved in the installation, hardware and electrical? How much and how long did it take?

Nice car.

Talking

Thanks April, I am a bit of a spiderman freak
As for the Lights, they are the very cool Moss MINI Rally Light bar. It supports up to 4 Hella Lights & badges.
The install was about the same as the PIAA lights, took me about 6 hours over 2 days to do. The install was kind of tough at times but not that bad. The only thing I had installed before was the alpine CD changer and the EuroShelf. This was a big step in toughness. I would recomend you doing it yourself if you think you can do it. I feel good having done it. I had some problems getting it to work at first but I found the loose connection and now all is good.
The install guide is decent but color would be nice. It is also designed for the 5-speed cooper, the install is not designed for the S. It can work on the CVT (I have the CVT) it just needs some brute force to get the stereo area disasembeld. I acutaly found the way to do it from mini2.

I got the Base Kit, It came with all the wires, switches and 2 Lights that you need. It has all the switches and wires for 4 lights, you just need to get the extra lights if you want them.

Moss Light Kit

I will post a full review this week of the kit.

Nice ride! Wondering where the on/off switch is located? I found the dealer mounted location to be somewhat out of place. (Lower left on the blank panel) Any other ideas?

Alsowondering if the Moss bar can be located (probably) at any height on the grill or was it site/height specific?

Thanks

The brackets are made to fit that spot, the switches can go almost anywhere.

Question Moss LIght Bar on S

Not realizing the Moss light bar system was for the Cooper, I bought one and installed it on my S. It wasn't until I tried to fit the bar to the grill did I realize what had happened . . . Fortunately, it actually does fit okay (not great, but okay and hasn't fallen off yet).

My problem is the wiring. I've got it wired now so the lights are always on. Which means I've unplugged them from the relay until I figure out what's wrong or someone like you can tell me what I've done wrong!

Any thoughts on how I should be wiring the harness to the car?

Thanks!

I am suprised the wireing harness fit at all? if they are on all the time it means you have power going to the hot switch lead on the relay. So the problem is at the switch I would guess.

Actually the harnesses (I bought it equipped for 4 lights but am only installing two now) fit fine. Well, aside from the fact the Hellas had a female fitting and the harness had a female fitting . . . )

Anyway, the lights work without the switch even in the ciruict, making me think I've got it wrong at the fuse box. But I really don't know yet.
