I thought Minispares did those ones as well???? I got mine imported from a company in the US - although I have no doubt that you can get them from a reseller in the UK.
I visited the Minispares website and couldn't find those particular ones....I think they got them imported from Moss Mini anyway? Still, importing stuff is an expensive hobby (don't I know it) so I would strongly recommend sourcing a UK distributor before heading 'across the pond' for your gear.
But Minispares have got some rather spanky stainless replacement air intakes!!!!! Wow!!!!
MINI Going.....Toyota Supra RZ-S Twin Turbo Coming....Standing Quarter, anyone....?
Thanks for the response guys. I emailed Simon at Minispares two days ago and no response at the moment (this could be due to Easter bank holiday etc.).
I'll let you know, but I really want a set of these vents as they are really cool..
Aiden, hope you dont mind me stealing your thread?
Has anyone tried to chrome their original ones in those plating shops or used those chrome paints instead of buying a new chromed pair? I've asked a local shop here and they want CAD$80 for it... too much I think. But I'll check around other shops for a better quotes.
It is quite an expensive process and you'll need to get the vents painted first (using two-pac paint). The smoother the paint finish, the better. If you don't the plating will highlight the 'orange peel' effect of the plastic.
Here are a couple of pics of mine after they'd been done:
It cost me around £25 to have my vents done , and the chap that did them for me was somebody that I know. Unfortunately he's stopped doing the plastic stuff now because it wasn't cost effective for him an it was starting to get in the way of his metal plating business.
I was hoping to be able to get him to do some stuff for us MINI2ers but that fell through when he told me he wasn't going to be doing the plastic stuff anymore.
