Painted bonnet stripes

I've got a DS/B with the black bonnet sripes. One of my stripes has a small nick in it, very VERY small but it still bugs me. What would the disadvantage of actually getting the bonnet stripes removed and new ones PAINTED onto the car? I don't want giant stickers. Sure a nice would chip the actual paint but it looks like my paint is holding up better than the stripes. I could also get stoneguard put on that could easily go over the painted stripes.

Alternativly does anyone know if any company makes bonnet stripes out of that 3M stoneguard, or whatever it's called? That would hold up better than the vinyl that MINI seems to use.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Paul

I recommend just going to any sign writers who deal in vinyl lettering and buy your 3M material from them. I did so recently (stripes and roof checks) for $85 (Australian dollars. BMW wanted nearly $800! I also fitted them myself very easily.

For bonnet stripes alone they couldn't be any more than $30 (CAD. Nonetheless, cheap to replace as they become scratched and/or chipped.)

True enough, vinyl bonnet stripes would be cheap to replace. Good point.
