headlight adjuster in Oz Spec

can i just ask quickly whether Oz spec cars (non-xenon) have the headlight level adjuster feature std. (near the drivers side door next to the s/wheel)

since my S has the switch, but it doesn't work.

i dunno if its a fault or the switch is just for show??

Hi,

Yes it is standard and it works on mine. Best way to test it is when you are parked close to a wall (eg in your garage). You should see an obvious movement of the beam up and down when you rotate the switch.

I have seen this switch work in both Cooper's and Cooper S's - I'd say yours is broken.

AS you probably know there's no adjuster in cars with xenons as they self adjust...

With the Xenons, if people over-adjust them up, then that breaks them. Is this possible (I've heard of it many time on the self-adjusting xenons)

Is there an adjuster for the Xenon lights in the MINI ? I have Xenons, and have seen them self adjust, very cool , but just curious if there is another adjustment that can be made ?

Yes there is an adjustment behind the headlight that makes them sit higher or lower as their default position. I haven't adjusted mine, so I won't talk more about that which I don't know about (a real change to form I know). Do a search on it (I know there is dozens of threads on the topic) or ask Snoopy

Wales mine don't work either

I have a jan 2004 uk spec cooper and the adjusters seem to do nothing. i have looked for blown fuses etc but nothing.
Strange thing is when the ignition is on but engine not running when you turn the headlights on they seem to move down then back up but the adjuster does nothing
Anyone any ideas before i call the dealer

this is probably best moved over into another forum now, but i can say that the standard headlights do do some auto-calibration when you first turn them on [you can hear it more than see the change], but the manual adjuster should still work thereafter!

If you do a search, you will find instructions, with a warning about chaning the level (height). The adjustment screws are the same on Xenons and non Xenons.
