Clear rears and the Law?

hi, i want to get some clear rears for my mini.
i spoke to the sales manager at my local bmw dealership, and he tells me you cannot order the clear lights anymore because they have been stopped by the police.
i know you can still get them from accessory shops. but i just wondered if anyone in the uk has had problems with the police about their lights, or do they not seem to mind.

Ive got clear lights and no reflectors I havent had any problems, I have got some reflectors to fit but havent got around to it yet
