I'm curious to hear others' opinions on these two. Since we don't even have the cars in the States yet, it's hard to get a sense of how they appear differently in real life. Opinions to go with a white or black roof are also welcome!
It's odd, for two years I just assumed I go with BRG and a white roof. Now I'm seriously considering one of the two blacks as well. I've got to give my dealer definitive answer on this shortly.
If I were going for black, I'd defo have the white roof as it adds to the Cooperness of the car. I have seen an all black Cooper and it is very subtle....
Yet to see metallic black, tho' when the solid black is clean it looks terrific. Given the choice I'd have black over BRG as it is a fairly dark shade, and dare I say dull.
I have Cosmos Black, with a White roof.......in bright sunlight, the metallic flecks are very visible, nice effect through the black, in dull light, or when dirty, its difficult to tell the difference from solid.
Cosmos might be more worthwhile in sunnier climes, but like all black cars, a horror to keep clean, one shower of rain, one drive on a wet road, it washing time again !!
Well I was going for the Cosmos black. Then CMT told me about his Solid Black one with Paint Glaze. Anyway I went with him to collect it. THey had a Cosmos Black One, a Solid Black COoper (Neo's) and a Solid Black COoper with Paint Glaze (CMT's).
I loved the Cosmos black on the all cosmos black Mini I saw at my dealer but when I saw it next to solid I was dissapointed. And the Paint Glaze loked even better. SO what did I do?
I changed my order from Cosmos to Solid saving 250, stuck on the option of the MFSW (160) and then told Neo I want his dealership to do the Paint Glaze when I get it!
As for White and black roof. Both look ace, but I want people to KNOW mine's a cooper without seeing the badge!
A factor in differentiating the blacks would be their resistance to paint chips. The jet black seems to get chipped easily and the Cosmos black with the clear coat(standard on the metalics) seems to withstand the rock chips. I wonder if any US dealers are going to offer the same glaze or will it be the same old paint protectant?
The whole world is buzzing about the MINI!
