Removing side view mirror casing and side skirts...how?

Hi guys...

I want to replace the white casings of my MINI's side view mirrors with original chrome ones, just want to know if this is easy to remove and replace and if so, how should I go about doing it?

Then, the side skirts underneath the doors...I would like those colour coded (either Cosmos Black - being the car's colour), or white (to match the roof) - how easy is this to remove (would I damage it at all?) and what do you guys think about the colour - white, cosmos black or a dark shade of silver perhaps? Reason for this is, it's so hard keeping that black plastic in a good condition - so much easier when it's painted. Or can you suggest something that I can use to keep the plastic in good 'shape'?
