vinyl experts - info on vinyl & MINI paintwork please!

having had some custom racing stripes installed i've been told by a knowledgable fellow MINI2er that there have been previous problems with Arlon vinyls & european water-based paints!

my stripes are Calon II vinyl by Arlon & i'm now significantly concerned with the potential for damage to the underlying paintwork!

my local distributor [& their Arlon rep] know nothing of said previous problems, but that doesn't always count for much down-under in Oz!

any input from those in the know?!?

I've never used Arlon products, but I have heard that people in the UK have had issues with this product line. Our primary product lines use 3M which I feel is the best out there for longevity and ease of install and removal. I've also used Avery which has comperable products, but does not carry the same brand recognition as 3M. When you are looking at vinyl also ask how long the warranty is on the material. A 1-3 year is pretty low while a 5-7 year is much better.

thanks matt... didn't want to bother you directly, but had hoped you might stumble across the thread!

my big decision is whether or not to actually remove & re-install the stripes... & i'm still unsure!
