About a week ago, my car was keyed right along the trunk. About an 8 inch scratch.
After bringing my car to a bodyshop to have everything fixed up, they told me they would have to remove the chrome moulding, the boot handle, the MINI symbol and the COOPER S lettering off the trunk, repaint it, refinish it, and then put everything back on. The only problem is, the MINI symbol costs $34 CAD, the COOPER lettering costs $34 CAD and the S itself costs $34 CAD!!!
I figured I'd leave the lettering off for a cleaner look. I mean, when better to do it then now? I'm still going the put the MINI symbol back on, but leave the lettering off.
Now, I'm kinda excited to see it debadged. So does anyone have any pics of their MINI's debadged, specifically the rear lettering? I need some pics to hold me down until I pick my baby back up on Wednesday!!!
Aww man, I'm sorry to see that Adam. Hope you get it sorted
I debadged my ONE the other day and it looks a lot cleaner (just the lettering). Why don't you reuse the other badges?? just put some new sticky pads on the back
That is a good question, why the hell couldn't they use the same badges?!?!
Truth is, thats what they bodyshop said they had to do, I don't know why they wouldn't? If I'm going to be paying for a new set of badges, I better be able to keep the other set they're taking off the car.
Just so you know, in case you decide you like the badge-less look, the MINI badge on the boot is located by two pegs, so there would be a pair of holes in the body that would have to be filled if you went badge-less.
I agree with Paul, why not reuse the badges by applying the proper double sided sticky tape make expressly for automobile trim? You can find the grey 3M variety at auto parts stores. It might be a little tedious to cut the tape to fit the badges, but it would be much cheaper than buying new badges.

I've been considering a de-badging myself, I can't wait to see how yours looks. Sorry it is under these rotten cicumstances!
I may leave just the "s"...
