Fitting a chrome tailpipe trim for "Cooper" - HELP

I search around the site and could not find any instruction to show how to fit the factory chrome tailpile trim on my 2004 black cooper.

Have anyone done it as a DIY and what are the steps to fit it on? Do I have to remove the original exhaust tip or it is a extension to original one?

Please post pictures if you have this on your nice cooper already.

Thanks very much

I am pretty sure that you have to remove the existing one, theres a gripping screw underneath the trim and then force the new trim on over the pipe exit. I had this done on my MINI One and they had to cut of the curled end on my Pipe. Not sure if you will have a curled edge on yours which will need to come off if there is. I think it is a Piece of wood and a mallet job as there is teeth that grip the pipe as you force the trim on.

I think this is the way.

if you go to www.motoringfile.com and browse to the How To section, you should be able to find an official PDF from BMW MINI, guiding you through the process.

i'm about to do it myself in a few days, but let me know you you get on

but basically, the hardest part is you need to remove part of the tailpipe.
you need to leave 6cm if i remember correctly, and as far as i can tell, slide the new tailpipe on.

Thanks. I also read the PDF document before I post it. It provides some information, but not much. It looks like we don't need to cut anything for "Cooper".

I will see what it can be done and let you know later.

Dealer Sport Exhaust

I opted for the Sport Exhaust option from the dealer, rather than just the cap. Here's a picture if it helps with anything. Good luck. Chrome exhaust is the way to go! Motor on.

Chrome Exhaust

I bought mine while have some work done at the dealer. When I picked up the car they had forgotten to install it. The service guy ran out, installed in and came back in about 3 minutes.

Thanks for the picture. It looks really nice.

I made an attemp this weekend and found the extension tip I got from Mossmini does not have a hole for screw to go through. Do I need to drill it myself?
