If you have the old Xenons, complete with headlamp wash, it's a straight swap over.

A complete bargain ( ) at about £650 for the parts only

I'm going off to find the exact price for you.....

Tigger.

Got it, £630 inc VAT for parts only or £680 inc VAT fitted.

You're welcome

They really do look the business. Save yourself £50 and do them yourself. I changed my standard halogen ones over without any bother (see gallery).

Assuming that the system is the same with the Xenons the important thing to remember is to park the MINI in a garage, turn on the headlights, raise the bonnet and then take some time to mark the position of the light beams on the garage ceiling. When you put the new headlamps in you can then use those marks to set the alignment of the new headlamps.

I hope that helps.

Tigger.

Tigger slightly off Topic-By adjusting the scews on the back-Will it revert to Euro Driving i.e switch Beam to other side of the road?

Thanks

The halogen headlamps just seemed to have the normal up / down and side to side adjustment. I'm not aware of any way to change from RHD to LHD with this lamp. The Xenons might be a different matter, I just don't know.

I used to have a Renault 16 with standard fit Cibie headlamps. When you put the headlamp bulb into the reflector there were two positions that it could be fitted into; one for RHD and (by twisting it through 30 degrees or so) one for LHD. Ingenious! It's just a Pity I wrote it off though

Tigger.

What's is the difference between the old xenon lamps and the new ones? I know the new ones are Projector HID but what is the difference? All the new cars have projector HID's with like an eye bulb now but the old xenon's were blue too just didn't have the bulb projector HID's? This really interests me and I can't find the answer anywhere!

You will find the "Eye" bulb Xenon lamps have a more sharp focussed beam. They did these in all Xenon equipped MINI's from about April 2004 builds onwards I think...These have slightly better visibility. The new R56 MINI lamps are Bi Xenon, which means when you put on to high beam, a mirror refracts the light higher.

HID is high intensity discharge, this is normally associated with after market xenons, you will often see HID Kits advertised, I don't like these as they blind other drivers as they don't have proper self levelling and washers on the lamps
