England Adjusting R hand drive Xenons for driving on Left

Hi, has anyone taken their mini with xenon headlights to Europe from UK or Ireland? I am going in a couple of weeks and have had wildly differing advice. The handbook says I must ask my dealer to adjust therm, which I have read about being the case with other cars. My dealer has told my wife that the lights adjust themselves (how do they know they are in France - can they smell the Gauloises?). Mini customer service have recommended a "foil" that I can use on my driving lights and my xenons : part number 63 12 0 03 09 41 apparently: but I have read that xenons do not like having things stuck to them and it is hard to see how any kind of blocking system would cope with the self levelling.
Any offers of how I can resolve this?
Please be careful to agree with each other, as I already have 3 answers!
Alistair

Post 2004 xenons are adjustable with a switch within the mechanism of the unit. They cannot be diverted with stick on stuff because the lens is within the unit itself. I have never seen posted details of the switch however. Sorry this isn't the definitive answer you seek!

Not sure if what Rentagas says is true about the face lifted models, (not denying its true either) but its certainly the case with the BMW's that you can simply 'switch' between Left and Right hand drive It also gives clear instructions on "how" in the BMW Owners Manual. The MINI Owners Manual states - 'On account of the high voltagewith xenon lights, have the headlight adjustment switched'. WTF!

As for the Pre face lifted, the 'foil' would be appropriate. I've also heard that it may actually go inside the headlight itself to deflect the light of the bulb inside it. Could of made that up in my imagination though

Stick on foils are available from your dealer for both halogen and xenon on pre facelift cars (build dates pre 07/04). Post facelift Xenons are switchable.

I'm off to France in a month so need to know how to adjust the Xenons on my 05 MCS. I've searched and there's plenty of people asking but nobody seems to have the answer.

Any help greatly appreciated.
