Help engine keeps cutting out!

Hi fellow Diesel owners!

I have had my Mini diesel for 2 years now and recently had a few probs:

The EML and diesel pre-ignition light (D??) come on when driving (normally fast 85mph and after about 10 to 15 miles), This brings the car to a halt and after a few minutes I can re-start it with no probs.

The BMW garage said it was the 2nd stage of the fan not working. So I had that replaced 2 weeks ago and now it had done it again!

Anyone had the same problem or knows what it might be?

Thanks

Lee

Could this be it?

The pas pipe to pump is also leaking (pipe to turbo). Could this be it? It does only happen at high speed and there is no rise in the water temp?

Odd and getting very expensive.

DIY I also have a similar problem - Engine Cutting out

Did you solve this problem?

My 2003 1.4D engine cuts out when under accelleration usually above 3000 rpm. A quick on-off with the ignion switch allows me to restart the car straight away. This can happen 4-5 times in a 10mile trip.

It has 1 OBD code strored P3002. I believe this is something to do with the engine ECU?

Can anyone help any furthur please?

Had the same problem, change the fuel filter - cost me £25 from a local place (not main dealer) and its fitted behind the wheel arch on the opposite side of the car to the fuel filler cap.

Enjoy!

Hey i know this is a bit late in the day but did u manage to sort out this problem at all? I have a similar one.

When the engine is below full working temperature and revved above 3000rpm the traction control light comes on and remains on. At the same time the engine goes into a 'get home safe' mode. Also the traction control doesnt work after this happens.

Any ideas?
