I have just bought a mini one 1·4d this is my first diesel I was told it is the Chrysler engine but not sure. I don't know if I should put an additive in, what to use and how often.
Another thing how often should it be serviced it is a 2004 with over 100 thousand on the clock would it have a gambler to change?
Well its good for your Mini that you used petrol in it because its an old model. So there are rare chances to of smoke from its silencer.I am a mechanic by profession and i advise you better for your Mini. Not take the risk to use diesel.I you want to know more about the vehicles and their specs so have a look on BMW VIN Decoder.
This is a good fuel system cleaner/additive usage really depends on how many miles you do a year and hose it's driven
Personally every 6000 mile is what I do with the family's cars, they get a bit of town and a bit of motorway
Thanks guys I will have a look at the additives marque and I won't be putting petrol in a diesel engine Habi !!! I have found out that because my engine is early 2004 it doesn't have the dpf or additive tank it is the toyota yaris engine.
BMW now also do their own official additives for both petrol and diesel. The petrol one has been around a while and is supposed to be OK. Diesel one is very new - mine came from Germany - and I've yet to try it.
You can just add one container of around 100ml to a tankful and it takes a couple of them to clean everything up.
