Thanks for reply, car back to dealer for him to sort, they've checked and changed nearly everthing apart from the head gasket, so thats next on the list, although no tell tell signs of a HG problem there could be a slight crack. The car is fine on motorway just when it stops, fan kicks in full speed and temp gauge goes to hot, then back to middle then back to hot until cool. The fan blows warm water but only when reving engine, i'm told this could be air lock.

Keep you posted

my turn to continue this thread,

brief history, recently purchased 53 plate one D, if I am honest it spat out water from the moment we got her..

thought not much of it, driving it around slow seemed ok,..

long journey, temperature gauge off the ceiling, no water, lots of steam, drama. limp to local garage fill with water.. finish journey, let it cool.

drive home at 60 mph all fine, drive at 70 it heats up, drop back to 60 all ok again.

get in traffic jam, 50mph getting hot again.... limp home...

Car is now in the garage, head is off, no sign of a leaking head gasket!!! very strange considering the amount of pressure in the expansion bottle from cold.. although it holds pressure overnight still!!!

Waiting for results from the engineering shop....

Just hope it isn't reallyu bad news.. oh yes, and found out that the so called warranty from the dealer covers only £300 !!! this may be a long night!!

More later in the week,.

Anyone out there a solicitor?? cos I think I will be talking to the dealer who sold it to me...

Exclamation overheating and inside heating problem

Hi, Im a new member.
My Mini Cooper 57 plate, has transmission too hot warning light occasionaly, then I find my radiator water low, also the heating inside car is not heating properly. Are these problems related? Any idea of the problem? I am worried on how much diagnosis this make take from a garage and not sure whether to go to Mini dealer, Mini specialist or local garage.
