As far as I have found out there are no mechanical differences between the One and Cooper engines. The One has its full-open-throttle limited by software whereas the Cooper can actually open the throttle fully. This means you will not really notice much up until around 4500 revs where the One starts to run out of oomph - the Cooper develops more power in this higher range. As for the price difference - well, you also get as std on the Cooper - alloys, sports suspension, a contrast roof, chrome front grille and an exhaust pipe cover (and the cooper badge has more letters in it). So - it is not JUST the engine ![]() Rich Mini One with *lots* of toys... http://rakh1.blogspot.com http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richand...mini/index.htm MINI2.COM Stickered up

Thanks for the info! Actually, I had already removed most of the extras in that price difference (I'm getting a cooper, but with the body coloured roof as the contrast one is a bit too much for me), and had just wondered where the approx £1000 was going - might have guessed with BMW that it is just a software difference, that's well cheeky... :-(

Interesting: Mini One - £10,995 Mini Cooper - £12,395 Diffference in cost: £1,400 Differences and cost to add to One: Sports Suspension - £150 15" Alloys - £310 Chrome grille bars, tailpipe and boot handle (you cannot get this on a One) Mirrors in roof colour - £50 Octagon cloth (to get this on a One you have to have sports seats - £180) Footwell lights (to get this on a One you need the light package - £100) Cooper engine (???) So - actual cost is £510 + £280 for extras + whatever the chrome might cost (£50??). So - engine upgrade is around the £560 mark... Not too bad really - although to be honest I spent the money on toys instead and got a One ![]() Rich Mini One with *lots* of toys... http://rakh1.blogspot.com http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richand...mini/index.htm MINI2.COM Stickered up
